Description

The ruined hamlet overlooks the Bléone Valley and offers panoramic views. At its feet, a century-old olive grove adds additional charm.

Lagremuse proudly stands its ruins to resist the relentless assaults of time for a little longer. The site still bears witness to its past defensive vocation. We can still see some sections of the walls of the old fortified castle, built on three rocks (made of Valensole puddingstone) and the Sainte-Agathe chapel which was adjacent to it.
Its name comes from the small gray lizards of Provence that love to bask in the sun. The sunshine is exceptional and the view extends from the Estrop massif to the Lure mountain.
Lagremuse did not survive the rural exodus that raged throughout the 19th century. Of the old terraced gardens below, a few stone walls and a few vines remain. The walk through the restored olive groves is very pleasant.
