Formerly the chapel of the Grey Penitents, the Saint Joseph chapel, patron saint of travelers but especially of carpenters, joiners and lumberjacks, is a "Provençal Gothic" type construction, a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic art.
Description
The Saint-Joseph Chapel, formerly the chapel of the Grey Penitents of Colmars-les-Alpes, was rebuilt after the fire of 1672 on the foundations of the original building. It adopts a Provençal Gothic style, mixing Romanesque and Gothic influences.
Wider than it is long, it traditionally faces the rising sun. Grey penitents celebrated religious festivals and the "Quatre Temps" processions there, marking the liturgical seasons.

A late 17th century gilt Baroque altarpiece by Lecler Angloie, with a 15th century tabernacle, probably from the Chapel of the Infant Jesus.
A statue of the Black Virgin (13th or 14th century), surrounded by a local legend threatening to be removed from the chapel.
A statue of the Virgin slaying the dragon (18th century), a powerful artistic expression of the protective and fighting Virgin.

On the facade, the first coat of arms of the city is visible near the entrance.
