Already in existence at the time of the drawing up of the plans for the fortification of the city at the end of the 17th century, it was however only two centuries later that the Pont Saint Roch would obtain its current appearance with the addition of the two wings on the downstream face.
Description
The Saint-Roch bridge is a single-arch bridge of more or less segmental shape. It has a single row of keystones entirely made of cut stone and irregularly extradosed. Its span is 16 m, for a total length of 19 m and a width of 3,60, including the two parapets of 40 cm each. Its arrow is 6,50 m. The rest of the masonry is in rubble blocking. At the two beginnings of the vault, the bowling holes are still clearly visible. In the 19th century, two wings were added on the downstream side, each supported by a relieving arch. The bridge was decommissioned in 1894, and replaced by a new structure located about ten meters downstream. It was listed as a historic monument on February 8, 1927.
