The coat of arms of Oraison...
Description
The Coat of Arms of Oraison is represented by two cows, one above and one below the azure-colored fess (the horizontal band), adorned with three silver lozenges. The presence of these cows could confirm the agricultural wealth of the city because at the time
It was an expensive acquisition. It was in the 12th century during their
emancipation that the municipalities chose an acronym either to serve
to their inhabitants as a rallying point either to distinguish them
from each other either to mark the time when they gained their freedom.
It seems to be the choice of the Community Council
in 1611 for the town of Oraison. This was then recorded
by the Royal Edict of 1696. An Edict which had a fiscal purpose (means for
Louis XIV to obtain money).
