The boutique and its museum/video space are located in the heart of the town. The Lure Distillery, founded in 1898, has had several owners, including Henri Bardouin, a plant enthusiast. It's a must-see for lovers of Provençal products.

Description

It was in 1974 that Alain Robert and a small team took over the company, now renamed Distilleries et Domaines de Provence.

Emblematic brands have existed since the Distillery's origins, such as Farigoule or Gentiane de Lure, while others have been developed over time, taking into account changing tastes and consumption patterns.

Today, these specialties are sold in more than 80 countries around the world.

For the little story :
It was in the surrounding mountains (Montagne de Lure) that, from the Middle Ages, gatherers of medicinal herbs became peddlers, distilling these preciously harvested herbs.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, these peddlers settled in many towns in the region, as druggists or apothecaries.
In the 19th century, some became pharmacists, others distillers, and a few both at the same time.
The specialties they make from Lure plants are often drinks or beverages with purifying, tonic, digestive, aperitif or refreshing properties.
Wine and alcohol, maceration and distillation, are ways to extract the aromas and active ingredients from plants and preserve them. It was not until the end of the century that distillers specialized in the production of liqueurs and aperitifs.
To this day, this know-how has been perpetuated for more than a hundred years within the same company, Distilleries et Domaines de Provence, and is spread throughout the world, to the great delight of spirits lovers....
