Discovery trail of pastoralism and transhumance in the Haut-Verdon.

Description

The starting point for this tour is in the Villars-Colmars public garden, opposite the Tétras bar and restaurant. Start by heading towards the village center, following the signs.

You'll have the opportunity to walk through the historic center, where you'll pass the former Miss Museum, a building steeped in history. Continue to the Tête district, once home to tanners, to further immerse yourself in the village's charm.

The trail will then lead you to the Puy huts and the hunters' bridge. Follow the signs to Juan's hut, then turn right at the intersection with Michard's hut. As you walk, you'll discover the importance of pastoralism in the Chasse Valley and throughout the upper Verdon Valley. Don't miss the opportunity to observe the old dry-stone park, which has been preserved for decades and is still used today to shelter herds at night.

If you're lucky enough to visit the region in August, don't miss the eponymous pastoral hike. This annual event will allow you to discover the shepherd's trade, learn more about pastoralism, and taste local products. Also enjoy the free musical interludes offered by the "Amountagna" association. It's a unique experience that will immerse you in the heart of the culture and traditions of the upper Verdon Valley.
