The Chambeyron-Oronaye massif stretches for about twenty kilometers from the Col du Longet to the Col de Larche. Its ridgeline is composed of peaks that almost all exceed 3000 m.
Description
The Tour du Chambeyron is one of the most iconic long-distance hiking routes in the Ubaye Valley. This loop trail crosses a spectacular mountain range located on the border between France and Italy, dominated by the Aiguille du Chambeyron (3412 m).
The GRP® Ubaye – Pays du Viso is a long-distance hiking route linking the Ubaye Valley, in the Southern Alps, to the valleys of the Italian Piedmont around Mont Viso.
This network of trails forms several loop treks of 2 to 6 days, allowing you to discover the Chambeyron - Oronaye massif, a spectacular high mountain territory, marked by exceptional geology, preserved nature and a unique historical heritage.
Between high mountain passes, glacial lakes, wild valleys and alpine villages, each of these routes reveals a different facet of this cross-border territory.
Details concerning animals This hike is accessible with a dog, provided it is kept on a leash throughout the entire route. This helps protect wildlife, preserve flora, and guarantee the peace and quiet of other hikers.

Marking details
GRP (yellow and red) + GR (white and red) markings. In Italy, the markings are not conventional as in France. The markings are large and come in various colors, although white and red are the dominant color.
Delicate passages
Please note that at the start of the season, the stage 5 route may still be snowy and the passes may be difficult to cross. In bad weather, you can also reach Maljasset via the Pas de La Souvagea (2,889 m), the Aval valley and then the road (not marked, ask the refuge wardens for details).
