Distance 12.5km
Elevation 360m
Duration 4:30
Difficulty Difficult
The perfect route to enjoy superb views and overlook the Sainte-Croix lake. The start is at the foot of the village (next to the campervan area and sports fields), at the intersection between the D952 and the Chemin de Quinson.
Description
Go down the Quinson path and, just after the ford, continue straight on. You will pass below the old fortified farm of Hert (private property).
Follow the signs for "Sainte-Croix du Verdon - Les Plaines". You will start with a beautiful climb, although short, the elevation gain is significant on this section.
You will go back down following the track that goes directly to the left. Passing near the place called Campagne Féraud, a first belvedere will offer you a privileged view of the Sainte-Croix lake.
Near the place called Chaudon, you will discover a clear panorama with a view of the Galetas bridge, the end of the Gorges du Verdon, or even the village of Aiguines and its summit of Grand Margès. From here, you will head directly left again towards Marzols.
The descent will be steeper and consist of around ten bends. You will complete the loop by following the signs for "Moustiers-Sainte-Marie." You will notably follow the "small lake" and its campsite, then you will return to the path to Quinson, where you started.
