Notre Dame de Lure Trail: 12,4km
Description
From the Lure resort, climb up to the heights of the resort to reach the ridge line. You will then cover 3km on the ridges, passing by the Antennes de Lure, before descending into the Creux du Chamoix.
Please note: The Crêtes de Lure are home to remarkable wildlife and are classified as a Sensitive Natural Area. Please stay on the trail and respect these areas to help preserve them.
At Creux du Chamois, descend to Les Chaumettes before crossing an alpine pasture to reach Combe de Chavalet. You will then walk through a deciduous forest that will provide a bit of freshness, much appreciated in summer. After a slight climb up to La Grande Fayée, continue the descent to Notre-Dame de Lure. This stone chapel with a slate roof, lost in the middle of the forest, is the only remaining vestige of the old abbey of Notre-Dame de Lure, built in the 12th century by the Chalaisian monks.
From Notre-Dame de Lure, a final climb through the Combe de Morteiron will take you to the Lure Station.
