Description
From the Mercantour National Park information panels in the car park, follow the GR5 (white and red markings) going up the valley.
The first 500 meters of the trail are completely independently accessible for wheelchair users and a multi-sensory reading table has been specially designed for the visually impaired and the hearing impaired (PNF/GMF sponsorship). The path then gently climbs the left bank of the Ubayette, which winds through a wetland and passes near the Eyssalps sheepfold where it may be possible to meet the shepherd and his sheep in the summer pasture. As the path begins to climb, you can see on the left the waterfalls descending from the Enclausette and the Lauzanier lake. Continue the climb to the lake reflecting the peaks overlooking it.
Along the entire trail, it will be easy to observe marmots. For their survival, it is forbidden to feed them; for their peace and quiet, observation must be done while respecting the "quiet zones" set up.
The most motivated can continue along the lake on the right by the GR5-GR56, in a more mineral atmosphere, leading to the lake of Derrière la Croix then to the Pas de la Cavale (2671m) under the rock of the Three Bishops. The return is by the same route.
As a reminder, the trail is entirely located in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, so dogs are not allowed, even on a leash.
