The Lançonnet - The Sagne

Access information: The Pont de la Serre is accessible from Colmars-Les-Alpes by taking a bumpy 8 km forest track (allow 40 minutes by car) and bring a vehicle with sufficient ground clearance. Campervan access is not possible.
This track is passable from June to October. It is closed by a barrier in winter.

From the Pont de la Serre (1,633 m), follow the path up the slope towards the Lançonnet pastoral hut and quickly reach a crossroads.
At the marker indicating Le Bois Noir (1,660m), go up to the left. The path climbs in switchbacks through the forest. At the next intersection, continue in the same direction: the path crosses a sandstone slab and offers a view of the Lance Valley. Higher up, the slope becomes gentler and the path crosses a former logging operation where Swiss stone pines have settled alongside blueberries and ferruginous rhododendrons. You emerge onto the Lançonnet plateau and reach the cabin.
Turn right in front of the cabin and climb in switchbacks towards the ridge that separates the Lançonnet and Sagne valleys. Cross the ridge and descend to the Sagne cabin (follow the cairns carefully).
Go past the cabin and follow the path that descends a little into the mountain pasture. It then crosses under the rocky ledges and then into the forest. Reach the Crouès crossroads. Go down to the right and reach a new fork in a clearing.
We then come to the marker for Pluhautière (1,960 m), follow an old forest trail to the right. It leads to a clearing overgrown with raspberry bushes. At its end, a path, via tight bends, descends towards La Lance and the starting car park.
