This path contrasts between the overheated scrubland of the Verdon and the shady and cool forest of the Ubac de Barbin, you will walk through a wild and grandiose site.
Description
At the exit of the village towards Moustiers, take the track on the left just before the Bourbon campsite (GR4 towards La Maline).
Join the Route des Crêtes then follow it to the right for approximately 250 m. At the pumping station, take the track on the right towards Bonlau. Go behind the building. After the well, go down to the left below. Further on, follow the Route des Crêtes for approximately 1 km.
Leave the roadway and descend to the right along the Bastidon path. This will take you to the Mainmorte ravine. Then go back up across to reach a pass. Continue along the side. After crossing the Ferné ravine, exit the gorges via the path. Cross several ravines (the tricky sections are secured!). On the left, reach the access to the Mairestre viewpoint.
Go to the viewpoint, then return and climb along the D952, then leave it to go straight ahead at the first bend. After a series of hairpin bends, turn left into the Brusc valley. Climb up a rocky gully and exit into the Grinhan ravine. Join the GR®4 trail.
Turn right and follow the red and white GR®4 markings. Cut the bend in the track, descend into the ravine and continue to the Jas de Barbin crossroads. Continue along the track to the right under the woods (the path changes slope). Continue along the Barbin mountainside and after passing a ruin and a captured spring, descend in a switchback along the path. At the foot of the hill, cross a track and join the village road below. At the oratory, continue straight ahead to reach La Palud-sur-Verdon.
