In a mountain atmosphere, this short hike combines open and forest landscapes, punctuated by an element of the history of the Lure mountain: the exploitation of charcoal.
Description
From the Lure resort, the panoramic view is already there and accompanies us on a gentle climb through an open landscape, then into the forest. At the top, the limestone grass gives way to an easy descent through a green beech forest, down to the Combe de Morteiron. The hike ends with a short, shaded climb back to the parking lot.
Coming from different regions of France, but also from the Italian province of Piedmont, my charcoal burners lived with difficulty, exposed to the harsh conditions imposed by the Lure mountain. Jean Giono and Pierre Magnan evoked the lives of these exceptional men in their novels.
