Description

From Champtercier, under the blue sky of Haute-Provence, observe, as the famous scientist Gassendi once did, the Digne mountains to fill up on serenity...

These lands are the cradle of the Haute-Provence Geopark, whose landscapes tell a story spanning 300 million years. From Champtercier, from the Bléone to the Pic d'Oise pyramid where the site of the ancient village nestles, you can see terrain from the Tertiary Era that has not moved since its formation. They are made of sandstone and puddingstone with orange hues. Opposite, the mighty Barre des Dourbes, the Pic de Couard, and the Cousson have, however, been displaced; they are composed of limestone and marl from the Secondary Era within the Digne nappe.
The women and men gradually settled down and Digne, initially nestled at the confluence of three valleys, then stretched along the Bléone.
