Saut de la Pie waterfall

The unique atmosphere of this place is due to a combination of elements: rocks, light, vegetation... On a geological level, we can observe a "gap" and a "discordance" which prove that nature is sometimes mischievous. Indeed, here, the sandstones of the Upper Triassic (–235 MA) rest directly on the black pelites of the Upper Carboniferous (-300 MA): the entire Permian (65 MA) is therefore missing. This phenomenon can be explained by erosion. As for the angular discordance between the pelites and the sandstones (the two groups of strata are not parallel), it testifies to the tectonic movements which occurred precisely… during the Permian!
These inaccessible rocks and walls are colonized by orange lilies, goat's beards, spindle trees and yews which, together with the waterfall, create a heavenly place.
Historically, it was not far from here that a deposit of 42 ancient coins was discovered.
