There's no point in trying to get to the secret of how Jean-Jacques Pougnet makes Génépi. The result is worth the detour: a pronounced aroma and taste of this legendary Alpine plant, which lingers long after the last sip...

Description

For enthusiasts, nothing beats this famous traditional liqueur, whose color varies between yellow and green, depending on the production. It is enjoyed particularly as a digestif and is said to have digestive properties and many other properties... Jean-Jacques Pougnet has been making it in small quantities for a long time, in the most artisanal way possible, in his small workshop in the village of Thorame Basse, at an altitude of 1145 meters.
The genepi plant is capricious: it only grows above a certain altitude. He harvests it at the time of full bloom before drying it and making this alcohol, which he bottles himself, his wife being in charge of making the labels. A family affair, then.
