Description
This conference, however, opens the door to a more modest but remarkable library: that of Gabriel Durand, apothecary in Sisteron in the 15th century. Among everyday objects and medical instruments were books of remedies, guides for chanting prayers, law manuals, and local notary records. These books, almost all of which have disappeared, allow us to glimpse the richness of private study in the Middle Ages.
