Description
Saint-Maxime Hill and its chapel
Overlooking the village, Saint-Maxime Hill is home to a peaceful esplanade, a true haven of tranquility. One of its greatest attractions is undoubtedly the exceptional view it offers over Riez and the surrounding hills, all the way to the heights surrounding the Valensole plateau.
Today, only the discreet Saint-Maxime Chapel watches over these serene places. It was built in 1655. A small community of Poor Clares, heirs to the Franciscan tradition of Francis and Clare of Assisi, perpetuates the religious presence on this site steeped in history.
